Skelmersdale School Students Net New Laptops

Pupils at a Skelmersdale school are back in class and online this week thanks to a donation of 20 laptops by Laurus Homes, the development arm of Trafford Housing Trust (THT).

The donation to students at St. James' Catholic Primary was made when representatives from Laurus Homes and THT visited the school recently along with James Upjohn, the independent councillor who represents Ashurst on West Lancashire Borough Council.

Laurus Homes is currently building a new 120-home housing development near to the school on Whalleys Road in Skelmersdale.

Angela Blacoe, Headteacher at St. James' Catholic Primary School, said: “We would like to thank Laurus Homes and THT for this generous donation, which will enhance our new bespoke curriculum including projects in history, geography, science, maths, English and IT lessons.

“Our children now have access to their own computer equipment rather than sharing between two, sometimes three per class, and this will help them to build secure foundations ready for High School and confidence in our ever-growing digital world.”

Zac Worthington, Head of Sales at Laurus Homes, said: “Being safe and confident online is increasingly essential in education and the workplace, so we’re glad to be doing what we can to support the pupils’ digital education as part of our on-going investment into the lives of young people in our communities.”
